Soria Hay, Head of Corporate Finance at Bravura, provides insight into Sasol’s share scheme which excludes people who are not black, as per the definition in the Codes. While Sasol has stated that the scheme is a BEE transaction rather than share ownership for employees, workers’ union Solidarity’s view is that the exclusion of population groups sits squarely in the domain of labour relations.
