The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) announced on 23 February 2018 that 2168 of the 2703 aspiring chartered accountants ((CA (SA)) who sat down to write their Assessment Professional Competence (APC) in November have passed this examination.

The formal examination process for prospective South African Chartered Accountants has been the subject of significant change in recent years. The result is a final assessment based on a multi-disciplinary case study and electronic submissions, designed to replicate a real-world working environment.

SAICA releases an “honours roll” each year – a list of students who perform exceptionally well in the assessment. For the 2017 APC, a total of fourteen students were named on the honours roll. Bravura took the initiative to host a number of these students at a cocktail evening in Johannesburg, where we invited them to mingle with some of our professional staff and ask as many questions as possible about careers in Corporate Finance, Structured Solutions and finance in general.

The evening was a success, connecting great young minds with experienced professionals able to share considerable insight.

Bravura is committed to attracting the brightest young talent to our organisation and we look forward to hosting more events of this nature.

The 14 candidates who earned a place on SAICA’s prestigious APC Honours Roll* in alphabetical order (by surname), are:
