Bravura Holdings Limited through its South African subsidiary Bravura Capital (Pty) Ltd (“Bravura”), and Vunani Limited through its South African subsidiaries Vunani Securities (Pty) Ltd and Vunani Capital Markets (Pty) Ltd (“Vunani”), are pleased to announce that they have formed a capital markets alliance (“Bravura-Vunani Securities Alliance”). The Bravura-Vunani Securities Alliance will provide clients with strong institutional capital raising services in Southern Africa.
Bravura has a team of fourteen corporate finance dealmakers and has operated as an independent corporate finance advisor in the Southern African market for almost two decades. It is also accredited as a JSE Sponsor. Vunani has operated equity and fixed income brokerages for twenty years, comprising twelve traders with execution capability and a research team of nine.
With Bravura’s extensive client network and advisory mandate pipeline, this would be an additional offering to their existing services. Vunani has long standing, strong relationships with their institutional clients who will benefit from the new source of deal-flow.
Bravura and Vunani will continue to operate its existing advisory and stockbroking businesses separately, with cooperation under the Bravura-Vunani Securities Alliance on a transaction-by-transaction basis.
Says Soria Hay, Head of Corporate Finance at Bravura: “Through the Bravura-Vunani Securities Alliance, Bravura can now offer a seamless public market capital raising service in addition to its current suite of corporate finance services to existing and new clients. This brings to market a compelling end-to-end advisory and execution offering, underpinned by strong Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (“B-BBEE”) ownership credentials and an 18-year joint track record of bespoke advice and execution excellence.”
Vunani Securities Chief Executive Officer, Johan Rossouw, is equally excited about the alliance: “We are delighted to enhance our service offering to clients via the Bravura-Vunani Securities Alliance. Our research, execution and placement capabilities will dovetail nicely with Bravura’s corporate finance skills, allowing for the rendering of professional and value-added solutions to clients.”
The Bravura-Vunani Securities Alliance will also have strong equity raising capabilities in the United Kingdom through Vunani’s alliance with a significant broker in London.
Bravura and Vunani raised R5.6 billion as part of consortiums in the public institutional markets in the 2017 calendar year. The Bravura-Vunani Securities Alliance believes that, with its B-BBEE credentials and long track record of stellar execution, it should be able to capture significant market share in this space.
With Bravura’s Level 1 B-BBEE rating and Vunani’s more than 51% black ownership and Level 2 B-BBEE accreditation, the new alliance will be a rare example of a strong transformation champion in the capital markets space.
